ABSTRACT

Objective@#To investigate the effect of comprehensive feeding intervention on feeding quality and weight gain of premature infants.@*Methods@#Eighty-one premature infants admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) of our hospital from September 2016 to December 2018 were selected and randomly divided into the intervention group (n=41) and the control group (n=40). Infants in the control group received routine nursing and infants in the intervention group were given comprehensive feeding intervention on the basis of routine nursing includingimproved Y type gastric tube, gravity tube feeding in prone position, oral movement intervention, colostrum oral immunotherapy and kangaroo nursing. The changes of feeding process were compared between the two groups and the occurrence of feeding intolerance in the two groups was observed.@*Results@#The duration of tube feeding and hospital stay were lower in the intervention group than in the control group (P<0.05). No statistically significant difference was found in birth weight and body weight at discharge between the two groups (P>0.05), but the average daily weight growth rate [g/(kg·d) ] after 1 week and the milk volume [ml/(kg·d)] at 1 week were higher in the intervention group than in the control group(P<0.05). The incidence of gastric retention, abdominal distension and vomiting in the intervention group was lower than that in the control group, but only the difference in the incidence of gastric retention (24.4% vs 47.5%) was statistically significant (P<0.05). The incidence of feeding intolerance was significantly lower in the intervention group than in the control group (24.39% vs 47.50%, P<0.05).@*Conclusion@#Comprehensive nursing intervention can shorten the tube feeding time of premature infants, promote the weight growth of premature infants, improve the feeding quality, reduce the incidence of feeding intolerance, and reduce the hospital stay of premature infants, so as to reduce the hospitalization cost, improve the quality of life of premature infants, and increase the satisfaction of parents.

ABSTRACT

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are a class of non-coding RNAs with covalently closed continuous loops. Owing to its specific molecular structure, circRNA is conserved and stable in vivo. Recently, the circRNAs have received extensive attention in the treatment of cancers including breast cancer. Notably, the recent evidence has demonstrated that circRNAs are aberrantly expressed in plasma and tumor tissues of breast cancer patients, and the expressions of those circRNAs in different subtypes of breast cancer were also heterogeneous. The abnormally expressed circRNAs are able to regulate the expression of cancer-related genes by binding their targeting microRNAs and other biomolecules to inhibit their functions. Moreover, the circRNAs are also considered as important players in the proliferation, invasion and apoptosis of breast cancer cells, as well as the treatment toxicities and drug-resistance. This paper reviews the biological characteristics and functional roles of cancer-related circRNAs, especially the current research on their association with occurrence, progression and drug-resistance of breast cancer.

ABSTRACT

To compare the effect of cold or room temperature of tumescence anesthesia solution on pain perception during and after endovenous laser ablation (EVLA) for varicose veins of lower limb.
Methods: A total of 51 patients with lower extremity varicose vein were treated by EVLA with tumescence anesthesia solution. All patients were used for local anesthesia and randomly divided into 2 groups according to the temperature of tumescence anesthesia solution: Group A (n=26) with room temperature (24 ℃) of tumescence anesthesia solution and Group B (n=25) with cold (4 ℃) tumescence anesthesia solution. Number rating scale (NRS) was recorded immediately after the procedure and postoperative 1, 2, 3 day. Patients were asked to register pain scores during the week.
Results: The mean linear endovenous energy density (LEED) in the 2 groups was not significantly different (P>0.05). The ratio of patients without pain during the operation in the Group A was lower than that in the Group B (30.8% vs 64%, P<0.05). On the day of operation and postoperative day 1, 2, 3, the average number rating scale (NRS) scores in the Group A were greater than those in the Group B (P<0.05). Postoperative day 1, only 30.8% of the patients in the Group A resumed daily activities, which was lower than that (68% of the patients) in the Group B.
Conclusion: In the process of EVLA for varicose veins of lower limb, there is less pain during operation and post-operation using cold tumescence anesthesia solution comparing room temperature tumescence anesthesia solution.

ABSTRACT

Purpose To investigate the application value in diagnosis of pleural effusion by cell block combined with immunohisto-chemistry. Methods 60 cases of pleural effusion were collected, and paraffin-embedded cell block was prepared and immunohisto-chemistry was used to detect the expression of CK7, TTF-1, E-cadherin, CEA and Calretinin. Results By use of cell block combined with immunohistochemistry, malignant detected rate was higher than that of the conventional centrifugal smear. There was statistical significance in the expression of CK7, TTF-1, E-cadherin, CEA and Calretinin between pleural effusion lung adenocarcinoma and reac-tive hyperplasia mesothelial cells (P<0. 05). CK7, TTF-1, E-cadherin and CEA were highly expressed in pleural effusion of lung ad-enocarcinoma cell. Calretinin was highly expressed in hyperplastic mesothelial cells. Conclusion Cell block and immunohistochemi-cal technique combination in the differential diagnosis of difficult pleural effusion has important clinical significance. It is worthy of popularization and further clinical application.

ABSTRACT

Objective: This paper is aimed at to evaluate B7-H1 expression as induced by human cytomegalovirus [HCMV] in extravillous cytotrophoblast cell line HPT-8 and possible underlying mechanism

Method: Real time PCR and flow cytometry were used to determine B7-H1 mRNA and protein before and after HCMV infection in HPT-8 cells. Western blot analysis was used to determine the level of MAPK phosphorylation in HPT-8 cell lines infected with HCMV

Results: 100TCID50 was found to be the most effective dose, capable of stimulating B7-H1 mRNA and protein expression in HPT-8 cells. When empty control group was considered to have a B7-H1 mRNA value of 1, B7-H1 mRNA was 4.32 in 100TCID50 group. In flow cytometry study, mean fluorescence intensity [MFI] of 100TCID50 group was 16.14, while empty control group was 1.34. Both mRNA and protein expression were found to be significantly increased [P < 0.05] in 100TCID50 group compared to empty control group

The result of Western blot analysis showed increase in B7-H1 expression caused by the extracellular signaling that was related to ERK activation and the ERK inhibitor U0126 was found to reverse this increase

Conclusion: HCMV upregulates B7-H1 expression in human extravillous cytotrophoblast cell line HPT-8, which is related to MAPK activation. Our result would be helpful in finding better therapies against intrauterine HCMV infection

ABSTRACT

Objecthe To equate the effects of recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH) on serum albumin lewis and intestinal mucosal morphology in rats with intracerebral hemorrhage. Methods A rat model of intracerebral hemorrhage was induced by autologous blood injection. Fifty-six SD rats were divided into sham-operation group (n =8), rhGH group (n =24; intraperitoneal injection of rhGH, 1 U/kg, once a day), and saline control group (n =24; intraperitoneal injection of equivalent normal saline, once a day). The rhGH and saline control groups were redivided into 1-, 7- and 14-day groups (n =8 in each group) after the procedure. The serum albumin concentration was detected at different time points in all groups. The changes of intestinal mucosal morphology were observed with Hematoxylin and Eosin (HE)staining and image analysis. Results Hie serum albumin lewis at all time points of intracerebral hemorrhage in the saline control group were all significantly lower than those in the sham-operation group (all P < 0. 01); The serum albumin level was increased gradually with the treatment process in the rhGH group, however, it was only significantly higher than the saline control group at day 14 (39.93 ±1.98 g/L νs. 37. 93 ±1.57 g/L) (P<0. 01). There were no significant differences between the rhGH group and the saline group in intestinal villus height and mucosal thickness at day 1 and 7 after intracerebral hemorrhage, however they were increased significantly at day 14 (P <0.01). The area of intestinal villi was reduced progressively at day 1, 7 and 14 after intracerebral hemorrhage, and with the treatment process the rhGH group was increased more progressively than the saline control group (P <0. 01). The depth of intestinal glands in the rhGH group was increased significantly than that in the saline control group (P <0. 01), but there was no significant difference at day 14; the density of glands in the rhGH group was significantly increased than that in the saline group at day 1 after intracerebral hemorrhage (P < 0. 01), and it was not increased significantly at day 7, however, it was not increased but decreased slightly at day 14. Conclusions The serum albumin level in rats with intracerebral hemorrhage was decreased significantly than that in the sham-operation group, and intracerebral hemorrhage could cause intestinal mucosal injury. rhGH increased the serum albumin level in rats with intracerebral hemorrhage. It might reduce intestinal mucosal injury to different degrees whether it was in the early or late intracerebral hemorrhage, and the late improvement was more significant. The improvement degree of rhGH on intestinal mucosal injury was positively correlated with the increased degrees of the serum albumin level.
